Hi all,
Usually I do not write anything in particular to the moon-net reflector.
But I'll give a small report:
I was QRV the night between saturday and sunday, to some extent. I wkd a
few qsos, like always I did some experimenting and there is always
something which goes wrong and needs time to get fixed, that is the part
of the beauty I guess! hihi
I wkd only 23 QSOs (I am not contesting, just being there for the fun).
But a few new ones, and as it turns I wkd a for me new DXCC on 2m.
In total:
2 QSOs on 2m (did not spend much time on 2m. Well I listened for the
FR/DL something, but every time I was there, sigs went down. Murphy...)
10 qsos on 70cm
11 qsos on 23cm
All QSOs on JT.
I will later on publish something more detailed on my website.
Hmm, today I was reminded that I worked 112 QSOs on 2m in ARRL contest
in 1999. Feels like a million years ago!
Thanks to all for the QSOs. And I hope you all had fun.
(Now I am waiting for the storm, which will hit us in a couple of hours).

Hi,
I have a few of them in service. Advice:
Always have a good power supply. Capable of at least 10A (20 if you have
AZ/EL rotator) because the motor can take up to 10A in the startup
current, if voltage drops to much in the startup you will loose pulses.
Always have good cable to motor connectors (1&2 and 5&6) all the way up
to rotator.
Never exceed 24V on BIG rotators. ( I am running 19V to mine, thinks it
is good voltage = rotator not turning antennas too fast)
Never exceed 18V on non-BIG rotators.
Makse sure to connect all equipment (chassis) to common ground,(general
advice).
And then you will have a happy life, with no problems at all! hihi.

Hello All - I recently purchased a never used RAK AlfaSpid rotator which
being about 7 years old is out of warranty. It's a great rotator [or will
be when its fixed] but I am having trouble with random loss of directional
calibration. After resetting it in the shack which is a great feature its
ok for about 3 heading changes then either goes high or low by about 5
degrees. My first thought was slippage of the mast but I have eliminated
that possibility. It's definitely in the electrical side. It can be
operated in the dc range of 13.8 - 24 volts & have tried a different voltage
with no change. I contacted Alfa Radio in Canada who were helpful & advised
that they were aware of this fault. I was posted a trouble shooting list but
it only covers obvious things like shorted or broken wiring. The resistance
checks all agree. Before I try & take it further with them has anybody here
had similar problems with this rotator?
Tnx for your time.

Dear friends,
I can get PowerSDR-OpenHPSDR mRX PS to talk to VAC and WSJT, but not to
Map65. If you have pointers about how to configure MAP65, I would
appreciate knowing.

Weather was terrible here and kept me off for most of the moon pass.
Very good conditions on moonrise. Worked JE1TNL, VK4EME with loud echo's,
and RA9LR for a new DXCC.
And then wind start blowing hard. Up to 8 Beaufort. So it looked to be a bit
scary to elevate the antennas higher.
I decided to stop and come back when the moon was at a lower angle.
Sunday morning conditions were less. I heard K4EME very loud but did not
seem to hear the EU stations.
EU-EU was good and I worked DK4RC for a new one. All by all the weekend was
not too bad with four new initials and a new DXCC. I heard and saw F6APE,
PE1RDP.
It seems quite some hams reinvented 432 EME and came back to 70 cm. It looks
like we have new stations coming up every month.

Apologies to anyone who is waiting for an EME QSL card from me.
My "tale of woe" is that I ordered a batch of cards from LZ3HI on the 1st
of October, and have not got them yet.
I enquired about progress on the 11th of November to be told that they
would be shipped out the following day, since then I've not had a reply to
my emails.
Is this guy for real, or have I been scammed?

Hallo all.
I have a question about the IQ+ with MAP65
All is working fine here buth when i switch off the IQ+ i see on MAP65
still some audio left.
When the IQ+ is off i see on booth orange tool bars in the MAP65
program 6/9 db signal left.(unstable signal)
I did disconnect the 2 coax cables on the IQ+ buth no result.
So i did disconnect the 4 audio cables between the IQ+ and the Delta44
soundcard.
Now i see the audio level on Map65 is (orange toolbars) going back 3 to
4db, buth still some audio signal left .
Next i did disconnect the cable between the extern box off the delta
soundcard and the intern card off the soundcard in the computer.
I see the same results signal going back to 3/4 db on the oranje toolbars.
It looks like some off the signal is coming from the IQ+ when it is off.
(very strange)
Yes i did switch off all other audio like microfoon etc.
And also some signal is coming from my computer.
What i want to know is this normal ?
How is this by other users ?
When this is not normal where can i find this problem ?( if it is a problem)
I hope someone can help me.

I recently purchased a 150 Watt 1296 SSPA from Bert Modderman PE1RKI.
http://www.pe1rki.com
It is very nicely built and i intend to have it operational on a 2.8
M dish soon.
Other suppliers for quality 1296 amplifiers include Kuhne (DB6NT) and W6PQL.

Plans pretty much determined by physical constraints:
Nov. 28:
MR 0400utc I will start on 144.116 JT65B if local noise permits
0510utc 1296 CW & JT65c -- until 1030utc (az limit)
1500 - 1800utc 144.116 JT65B
1800 - 1900 local Net so QRT eme
1296 contingent on winds < 15mph. Major winter storm expected on Saturday.
Nov. 29:
MR 0500utrc 144.115 JT65B until 0900utc?
1400 - 1630utc 1296 (dish will be configured Saturday pm for this
azimuth range)
1630 - 2100utc MS 144.116 JT65B
I cleared 144Tx line of water today; Refl = 3.5w for Fwd = 160w
(1.3:1). Temp fix that I hope gets me thru the contest WE. Holiday
activities left only 3-hours for working on this in daylight today so
I decided not to cut lines or replace them. LMR-600 clearly is
contaminated with water which pools at bottom connector when
temps>freezing. I have new LMR-600 to replace the bad line but need
a full day to accomplish.
Pse QRS on CW as my ears are rusty from lack of use. I will be using
FLdigi keyboard for sending 15wpm CW in one-min seq (or less).

Gys,
I see 9-10 dB noise from my Delta44 when radio is
turned off. That is just the gain of the
soundcard acting on internal noise and nothing to be concerned about.
The audio level bars (you call orange but look
more magenta to me) will show this as well as a
numerical level in the Rx window at bottom of
MAP65 main screen. When you have radio turned on
and turn on preamps the level should rise a
minimum of 15-dB (for me 9+15 =24 dB). Anything
higher indicates higher noise from antennas, or excessive gain in system.
It seems you system is fine.
