Well, if it was true then it doesn't seem to be true now. I have 4 standard 1/2" heliax connectors and they don't fit RG331. The mechanism designed to grip the corrugated outer of the Heliax doesn't grip the smooth aluminum outer jacket of RG331 and the clamping mechanism doesn't really work. Plus the center pin of RG331 is smaller (0.16" vs 0.19") than that of 1/2" heliax so it doesn't clamp in the center pin fingers. I could sleeve the center conductor with 3/16" tube, but there's still the outer grip issue. Maybe some older version has a soldered center pin and different clamping mechanism for the outer jacket?

Searching on the web for RG331 (5/8" OD hardline) connectors I found this statement "Standard Andrew Heliax (1/2") connectors work perfectly with RG331/U (http://www.eham.net/ehamforum/smf/index.php?topic=59088.0)" from a post made in 2003. I have in the past kluged together parts to use a standard RG213/214 N type connector on RG331, but I was hoping for a better solution requiring less machining of adapters and aluminum soldering - and something that would be good at 1296 and up.
Anyone have any suggestions for N type (M) connectors for RG331 that won't break the bank?
Anyone want to buy 4 x 1/2" Hexiax connectors (new)....I'm sure they are fine on 1/2" heliax!
