I bought a new IC9700 for my station.
Not going to use it for eme, so all good...I thought. But I want to use
a remote preamp with a transfer relay, so I built that (IC9700 provides
no separate Rx antenna input.
But then I realized that when I push PTT on the mic in FM the radio
immediately transmits RF. It has no Tx Inhibit function like my K3 has.
So "apparently" I can key external equipment via the ACC jack (which
"again apparently" requires an 8-pin DIN jack) pin-3. I have a
sequencer that the external "Send" line can control. And my sequencer
does four stage change-over from Rx to Tx: 1-powers off the preamp,
2-engages TR relay, 3-keys amplifier PTT, 4-turns off Inhibit (which is
a +5v level for my K3).
Only reference to ALC in the IC9700 Basic Manual is page 13-1 showing
the jack pin-out. ALC is shown -4v to 0v with 10K input impedance. How
do I generate -4v from my +5v inhibit voltage regulator? Can I just
reverse the connections or do I have to find a negative voltage
regulator? I'm hoping (no instructions from Icom on how to use ALC in
the manual, and googling reveals nothing) ALC = -4v means minimum RF
output (would -5v hurt the radio?).
Also one on-line reference mentioning adjusting the Tx keying delay
(How?). Not mentioned in Basic Manual, Advanced Manual, or Service
Manual. You don't know what I want to do to Icom's technical manual
dept. Worst (almost) manual I have ever read (I had a job as tech
manual writer once upon a time, so that is my expert opinion).
I figure these issues are not new to those using the IC9700 (BTW I have
the Bonar board and a 49.152 MHz PLL on its way to me to fix the
frequency stability issue).

Morning operation only over the weekend due to minimum Azimuth 190 deg min
elevation 24 deg due to trees. Totally blocked by a tree to VK, even at
perigee.
25W 1.1m offset
I can work a well set-up 1.8m dish on digimodes, and at a scrape, 1.5m at
perigee.
Happy to try with anyone, big or small, CW or digi
Still looking for my first CW 3cm EME QSO.
It could be you!

Probably the best solution is simple use of separate RX cable from LNA to RX
http://www.ok2kkw.com/00003016/sequencer/sequencer_2en.htm
LNA is always terminated by relatively long thin cable with higher
attenuation on frequencies above the band.
