Q65 vs JT65b on 2 meter EME (David)
I made a few QSOs in 2020 esily using JT65B.
After that I haven't been able to detect any signal.
I'm selling my 70cm station if anyone is interested. I'm now setting up a 2.4m dish for 23 cm.I considered the problem is local noise in the 70cm band but there maybe other factors may be involved now that this discussion is up.

I have repaired a few switching supplies with bulging caps. Ideally you
can get the same part, but often times that part has been discontinued.
If you must substitute a different cap, make sure you replace it with a
voltage rating at or above the failed one. Also match the ripple current
and ESR specs as close as possible to the original one. If you don't,
the repair may not last long and the failure mode might be more exciting
(smoke/fire/explosions) than no output and a bulging cap.
Good luck!

While I have been trying to hear signals off the moon for almost a year
now, I have only heard dl7apv. So the idea of Q65 to me is daunting as
there is no way to just look at a waterfall and see a sig unless its
very strong. If you cant see it maybe only MAP65 could find it. Tho map
65 now has to be set for 15, 30, or 60 in a, b, c, or d modes. For
little guys like me the discussion is mute because if you cant see it
you cant receive it.
Hello!
I’m not going to finish my 3cm project, so I decided to sell my 8.5W @ 10GHz power amplifier. SMA IN - SMA OUT.

Hello All,
I have a Meanwell power supply that needs repair. I have contacted the
company in California and was told they only repair power supplies that are
under warranty. (Nice product support Meanwell. And yes, that is sarcasm.)
Is there a company in the US that repairs these supplies? I hate to waste
it.

Hi All.
I would like to start a discussion on digital modes on 2 meter EME. I think
I understand the issues, but perhaps someone has an issue I have not
thought of.
This could have implications for hardware and software support.
I think we can all agree that for one reason or another (or a combination
of reasons) that JT65b is still king on 2 meter EME but why is that so?
There are users on higher EME bands that clearly prefer Q65 so maybe it is
a subject we should examine and possibly learn from each other on.
What is your mode preference on 2 meter digital EME? Please do not bring
other modes into the mix. It is intended only for Q65 vs JT65b on 2 meter
EME.
Have you tried Q65? If not, why not?
Do you have hardware limitations that prevent you from using Q65? If so,
what are they?
If you prefer JT65b, what about Q65 would need to change for you to make
the move or what is it about Q65 that makes it less desirable for you?
There are other questions, but I think this is enough for now. I'll share
my opinions in a later email if there is sufficient interest in this
subject.

Hi All,
I won't even try to argue the technical merits of Q65 over JT mode, but
present my humble opinion of why it is completely accepted on the higher
bands but not on 2M.
What Mode is used by most, especially by newcomers is driven but what the
big guns use as they are the influencers, the stations that are
consistently heard. And on 2M the big guns are not using Q65 and one of the
reasons is explained below:
The Big Guns and old timers on 2M never switched over because they
invested heavily years ago in various Coherent dedicated receivers, mostly
the IQ+ and use Map-65 not WSJT-X because of the advantages of dual
polarity reception and its ability to decode the whole band.
But over the years, due to phase out of the needed sound cards, driver
compatibility issues with newer versions of Windows and licencing issues
for driver compatibility with Map-65 V2, all of which are difficult to
address, many of them have never bothered to upgrade to the newer version
of Map-65 that supports Q65 and they continue to use the older versions of
Map-65 which does not support Q65.
So until the big guns switch over, the rest will not follow.

I agree with Kevin.
Clearly superior.
Guys: it has at least a 3 db advantage over JT65. Thats like the WSJT gods waving a magic wand and doubling the size of your antenna.
That means a lot to the one and two yagi stations, but not if every one is using JT65.
Want more “initials”? Use Q65.
But, It has a significant in practice learning curve.
And, On the weakest signals the “fun” of seeing the trace and using SH to complete a QSO is gone and that is part of the resistance.
I have had QSOs at -34 and -35 and quite a few below -30. On some never saw a trace. The skill is knowing how to find them without the visual. Easy once you master Q65.
Love Q65. Thanks Joe T.
But just like the old timers working each other this evening on 75 meter AM. I suspect JT65 will be with us a long time.

Jozef,
Hello Jozef. I'm emailing you because you seem to be familiar with the
Anritzu Site Masters. I have an MS2721A which has a problem when booting
up. I get an error code "LO1 Fail, :20" and then "SLO Fail, LO1 Fail :30."
As of yet, I haven't been able to find anyone who can suggest what these
error codes mean, i.e. what is failing, or where to find the error codes.
When I contact Anritsu, they only say they no longer support this piece of
equipment.
Can you suggest anywhere to find these error codes or what may be failing in
the equipment? I didn't see one video on line that mentioned the "Real Time
Clock" battery which I have never changed. I don't know if this battery
being defective would generate these error codes or not. The manual only
gives the Anritsu part number for this battery (633-26) but doesn't tell
what the battery type or voltage is.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks and 73's....Ben/K4QF
