until ver. WSJT-X 2.6.0 rc4 it was possible to run echo mode without CAT
control. I use to run my station remote quiet often and my YAESU FT950
CAT input is used to control it with YAESU special software dedicated
for FT950 simulating FT95O front panel on the PC monitor screen and
enabling to set all the parameters with the mouse. Therefore I cannot use
WSJT-X CAT doppler compensating feature.Until ver. rc4 I set doppler RX
offset manually using clarifier and in 23cm band the doppler changing
speed was slow enough to be able to get usable ECHO values within
several periods.
In now released 2.6.0 version is seemingly this procedure no more
possible, unless in Radio setup is CAT defined for particular RIG. In my
case is in Radio setup RIG None and control with PTT only.
Is it possible still to enable ECHO to run with some f.E. WSJT-X.INI
modification?

If you can do that then there's no problem. If you can't set a known amount of RIT, then you can't use this method, but even on radios which don't directly display the RIT value, you can usually dial in a known amount by looking at the change in the frequency display when RIT is on and off. This only works if the Doppler shift is within the RIT range of the radio, so come rigs might have issues using this method on 10Ghz and up when the Doppler shift is high and the RIT doesn't have enough range.

Hi Charlie,
thank you for your hints, I shall test it during next Moon path. After
changing Q65 period to 60 sec. in WSJT-X.ini I worked successfully Peter

Thanks for great software anyway, it causes big fun.

Dear friends,
I know that DT is time offset, .. how is it measured?
I'm asking because several stations tell me that I have DT of about 3.2
whereas most stations that I decode are about 2.8. My computer clock is
never more than 10ms off, so that's not the cause.
Thanks,
W9IP
Hello mooners,
I have used all wsjt-x 2.6.0 _/*release candidates */_without problems,
but yesterday i the morning I saw that RC5 did no longer work.
So I assumed that the RC5-test periode had stopped and I checked for a
final version 260, which I found on the new Sourceforge page.
During installation (unzipping process) my Virus Defender McAfee showed
me a warning that the file called
"libboost_log_setup-msgw7-mt-x64-_74.dll " contained a virus and was put
in quarantaine.
While trying to startup wsjt-x260, the program crashed because the file
above was not found (in quarantaine, well done McAfee)
So I reloaded the setup from Sourceforge and repeated the setup... same
problem.
Then I uninstalled the whole RC5 and _*temporary stopped my
virusscanner*_, /*disconnencted Internet*/ (for safety) and installed
again, It took a long time but WSJTX260 seemed to work.
Then I re-enabled the virusscanner, rebooted the PC and.... McAFee put
this libboost dll again in quarantaine and the wsjtx260 crashed again
for same reaason "dllnot found".
I tried the same on a completely different PC where WSJT or WSJTX had
never been before, and..... same crash.
Fortunately I also had WSJTX2.5.4 left on my shack PC and that worked
fine !!
I have also JTAlert and VQlog coupled to all of my versions and
PSKreporting enabled (PC with Win10 latest release, x64, I7 processor,
never any problem before_)
A full manual control scan with McAfee showed no problems on either of 3
harddisks..
Who can help me?
TNX 73 Joop PA0JMV
Thanks!!!
Peter

Dear moonnet fellows.
I read and heard some about complaints regarding the 2.6.0 version.
I used the RC versions before.
Apart of all pro- and con's I really like the echo mode of the newer
versions WSJT-X.
I mainly use Q65-60 and in some occasions JT65. With drifting signals,
quite
some birdies and noise I have the feeling that in that conditions JT65
do a
bit better.
Of course this has not been scientifically proven. The WSJT-X engine
sure
outperform all old WSJT versions, even in JT65.
It seems we are getting to an excellent version as we now start with
comments about the layout and human interface issues.
I have no problems with it and would like to thank Joe and the team for
the
work done.
