Many thanks to all of you who suggested remedies for my WSJT problems.
Next day, without me changing anything at all, WSJT 9 worked flawlessly for
several hours. I knew it would !!
Just one of those funny Windows things I guess. At least if it happens again
I'll hope to recognise the symptoms earlier and do a re-boot before I tear
my hair out (not much remaining these days ........)

John,
Yes, with XP and version 9.x I've seen similar symptoms. Never with
earlier versions. I've been trying to find a solution for months with
little success. The "fix" seems to be un-install version 9.x and then
re-install although that is only a short term solution. When ver 9
upchucks, I usually just get it stopped some way and then bring up an
earlier version. That always works and keeps working.
FWIW, I've reloaded the operating system at least a dozen times, tried
different processors, different motherboards, different
soundcards/drivers and quite a bit of other odd things, all with the
same result.

Hi all
Yesterday I spent a very disappointing couple of hours on the moon, with
just one complete qso.
The problem was that although there were some strong signals, some strong
enough for me to hear the tones on a speaker, WSJT failed to decode them.
I
knew who I was watching by observing "live
cq". I thought it might be
conditions, but all around me successful qso's were taking place.
After a while I gave up and went qrt in disgust, and closed down WSJT. But
in fact I didn't close WSJT. It would not close. It would not close
conventionally and Task Manager would not close it either. And later on,
Windows would not close.
So, clearly I had a computer problem. But there were no error messages,
just
that decodes were poor to non-existent.
Anyone seen this before ?
I'm using Windows XP and WSJT 9.02.
