I have purchased several at about $35(+or-), and shipping has been
free from the midwest to AZ .

Hello to everyone interested in the HP/CPQ 51.4VDC
power
supplies. Those prices are all over the place. The shipping has
always been the problem with these things. I was able to "beat the
system" by finding vendors close to me that would allow me to pick
them up. By driving yourself, you can save a bunch of money. I was
able to purchase large lots and to get the prices down a bit. These
surplus dealers don't like getting stuck with things like this that
just sit around, so they will take a reduced price IF you buy a
large lot or everything that they have. You have to be careful
about saying "I will take all that you have", however. I did that
once and found that I was now the proud owner of 64 of those
things......I actually made it out of the Dayton Hamvention with
about 15 of them....the rest were sold at Dayton.
I know that there must be surplus dealers in EU that have these
things lying around. I just don't know how to find them. Several
EU hams have told me that they got some for their amps, so there
must be a way. IF someone across the pond finds a way to get these
things, he/she could buy a large lot and parcel them out. That
would help everyone.
They actually weigh 14lbs, so shipping should not be $92, unless it
was from the US to EU. Still, the shipping does drive up the total
price significantly.....unless you go and pick them up.
GL to everyone working on securing these power supplies....
